Do you need a car in Italy?
Skip the car: Rome, Florence, Venice, Bologna and Milan. Trains are fast and parking is a headache.
Don’t even try: Cinque Terre’s villages are car-free, Venice has no roads, and on Capri, where this little Fiat lives, visitors can’t bring their own car.
Get a car: Sardinia, the Tuscan countryside, Puglia between the small towns, and most of Sicily.
The catch: restricted traffic zones (ZTL) in historic centers can send a fine to your home months later.
