Who Pescara is for
Pescara suits families best, with a long sandy beach and city services. It works for couples and solo travelers too. Walking is flat and easy.
When to go
The best months are June and September. May is good too. The weakest are March and August. From November to February beach season is over, but the town stays open.
Getting around
Pescara is easy to reach by train along the Adriatic coast, and the seafront and center are within walking distance.
What Pescara costs
On a budget, about $95 to $120 per person per day. In comfort or luxury, about $330 to $335. The lower number is the quiet season, the higher one peak season.
Includes your stay, food, activities and local transport, not flights. Converted at about $1.10 per euro. Estimates only.
Flights from the US and Canada
Fly into: Rome (FCO), then about 2.5 hours by bus. Typical economy fares per person, round trip. Canadian fares are in Canadian dollars. Not live prices, so always check before you book.
What Pescara does best
Its strengths: wine, and beaches and swimming.
Day trips
Pescara works as a base for Abruzzo: the coast, the mountains and the hill towns.
Wooden fishing platforms over the sea, some with restaurants. You can follow the coast on a bike path.

Too far for a day trip, but a great overnight: leave the big bags at the hotel and take one night’s things. The Gargano peninsula has white limestone cliffs, rock stacks rising from the sea and the old beech forest of Foresta Umbra. Vieste and Peschici are its best-known beach towns. A car is practically essential.

Where to eat
Breakfast and brunch
Lunch
Dinner
We picked these places from Google ratings and reviews in October 2026, and we haven’t eaten at all of them. Many Italian restaurants take reservations on WhatsApp, and a reservation only counts once they reply. The Map link opens the restaurant in Google Maps, where you’ll also find a booking button if they take online reservations. Opening hours change, so check before you go.
Food and wine
Abruzzo on a plate: a typical four-course menu, and the wine to go with each.
Golf
Green fees are estimates and vary by season and day of the week. Most courses ask for a handicap certificate. The links go to the course or a golf directory with booking and contact details.
Shopping
Honestly: there’s no shopping worth coming here for. You’ll find the basics, but save the shopping trip for somewhere else.
