The schedule updates automatically every night. Dates and kickoff times can still change, especially in Serie A because of TV deals, so check the club’s website before you buy tickets. The leagues take a break in June and July.
Why go to a game
Even if soccer isn’t your sport, an Italian home game is one of the best evenings you can have in Italy. The whole city lives for the match, and the atmosphere in the stadium is nothing like it looks on TV: the singing, the flags, the whole crowd living every pass.
And it’s a bargain. Tickets usually cost a fraction of a pro game in the US or Canada.
How to buy tickets
- Buy from the club’s official website. You’ll find the links in the calendar. Resellers can charge several times the price
- Tickets are personal. You need each fan’s name and usually an ID number when you buy, and you must bring that ID, your passport, to the stadium
- Buy early for the big games. For derbies and top matches, buy as soon as tickets go on sale. For smaller games, a week ahead is often fine
- Plan for date changes. Exact dates and times are often confirmed only a few weeks ahead, so book flights with a day of wiggle room
The best cities for a soccer trip
- Milan: Inter and AC Milan share San Siro, and the Milan derby is one of the most famous games in the world
- Rome: Roma and Lazio, and the Rome derby is one of the most emotional in Italy
- Naples: the atmosphere at Napoli games is in a class of its own
- Turin: Juventus and Torino, and the derby della Mole
- Palermo: a big club with fans all over Italy. The stadium holds about 36,000, and it fills up even in Serie B. We have been, and it’s worth it
